REPRESENTATIVE BALLWEG TO RECEIVE “FRIEND OF GROCERS” AWARD

Madison, Wisconsin (August 2, 2012) – State Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) will receive the “Friend of Grocers” award from the Wisconsin Grocers Association on Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 at noon at Zinke’s Village Market in Wisconsin Dells.

The “Friend of Grocers” award is given to legislators who score highly on the WGA’s Legislative Report Card – an extensive study of all legislators’ performance in the most recent legislative session. Lawmakers are graded according to their actions
on certain issues that are especially important to the grocery industry.

This is the third Friend of Grocers Award Representative Ballweg has received. “Representative Ballweg is a small business owner and because of that she is one of the strongest allies we have in the State Assembly. Last session, the WGA worked with Rep. Ballweg on unemployment insurance reform and our industry appreciates her time and dedication to the issue.” said Michelle Kussow WGA’s VP of Government Affairs and Communications.

The award will be presented to Representative Ballweg by WGA’s President and CEO Brandon Scholz and the store manager, Fran Kranz. Members of the media are invited and encouraged to attend.
